Mr. Grant Davis is currently in his second year as Director of Bands at Fannin County High School in Blairsville, GA. He began his teaching career in 2020 at Jefferson County High School (Louisville, GA), where he served for four years as Director of Bands, General Music Instructor, Fine Arts Department Head, and advisor for the Fine Arts Diploma Seal (FADS). He also assisted as technical specialist and assistant director for the JCHS theatre program, the Warrior Players.
Before entering the classroom, Mr. Davis worked extensively as a brass and visual instructor with marching bands across North Georgia, including Lanier, Gainesville, Johnson, and Lumpkin County High Schools. He also maintained a private studio and taught lessons at several middle and high schools, including East Hall Middle, Gainesville Middle, and Rabun County High School.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of North Georgia, where he studied trumpet with Ms. Sarah Dunn, Mr. Alex Rodiek, and Mr. Andy David, and conducting with Dr. Ashley Jarrell. During his time at UNG, Mr. Davis performed as principal trumpet in both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, and was an inaugural member and vice president of the UNG Band Council. He also performed with the Brass Ensemble, Indoor Winds, Nighthawk Pep Band, Gainesville Chorus, and the UNG Gainesville Brass Quintet.
Mr. Davis has served as principal trumpet, band captain, and lead recruiter for Kingsmen Indoor Winds, and his performance affiliations include Drum Corps International (DCI), Georgia Indoor Percussion Association (GIPA), Southern Association for the Performing Arts (SAPA), and Winter Guard International (WGI). He is a former member of the Savannah River Winds and Augusta Concert Band.
He is an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), and was previously involved in the UNG chapter of cNAfME. He is also a recipient of the John and Margaret Chromartie Excellent Musicianship Scholarship.
Mr. Davis resides in Blairsville, GA with his two cats, Pip and Dmitri.
