Dear Band Supporter:
We are a competitive, award-winning marching band with mostly Superior ratings for the last 40 years. It is support from the community that has helped many students realize their hopes and dreams of learning an instrument and becoming part of something bigger than themselves. Growing their skills over a few short years takes a lot of practice and support from parents, band family and the band boosters.
We are excited for our second year with band director, Grant Davis. We will compete against other marching bands at regional competitions in September and October this year. We expect many great accomplishments from our band!
We will host our own marching competition known as the Blue Ridge Mountain Marching Festival, which will be held in October. Many high school bands will attend from GA, NC and TN. We march in local parades and hold seasonal concerts for our community. The band members love performing, and provide spirit at all Fannin County High School football games. It is loads of fun, but it takes a lot of work! We are proud of the efforts and commitments each member is making every day.
Our show for the 2025 Fall season is Music from Riverdance. We have high hopes that the crowds will love it! Not only is the music awesome, but so are the choreography, props, flags, and color guard! We are excited about the show!
Band members start their journey in July at band camp. They spend much of their time on the practice field, learning both the show music and the formations of the marching drill. After school begins, band members will have afternoon practices most weekdays to prepare for the much loved Friday night football games. The schedule is hectic, but the students make memories to last a lifetime!
The marching season usually lasts through early November. Then the band moves into parade and concert season, with events like the Veterans’ parade, the Veterans’ concert, the Light up Blue Ridge Parade, the Christmas parade and the Christmas concert. January brings auditions for a chair in the Georgia All-State Band. In February and March, we practice and perform at the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), where we often score “Superior” rating. We finish our season in concert band mode with several events at the school.
The Fannin County High School Band is very active. We usually take a Band Trip each year in the spring. Recent trips include San Diego, New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, Orlando, Hawaii, and Washington DC. What a great trip for a group of teenagers!
Supporting a competitive marching band is expensive. The cost of extra instructors, meals, music, equipment, uniforms, props and travel is tens of thousands of dollars each year. Our members gain things that money can’t buy, like discipline, responsibility and teamwork. Most importantly, they learn that hard work really does pay off. These are lessons that will help them for the rest of their lives. We need your help to continue on this journey.
We are asking our friends, neighbors, and community for contributions to support our band program. Think of it as an investment in the future of our band members who are striving to be the best they can be.
